The marketing ads are misleading. The balcony is actually a shared walkway. There is no garbage disposal as advertised. The fully equipped kitchen does not have a dishwasher. The rents listed are way out of date as the rent increases every six to twelve months. In less than two years, during which I have paid my rent on time every month, my rent has been increased three times for a total of $80.00 per month. I moved in here in a second story apartment only because there is an elevator and I was... promised that I would be put on a waiting list for downstairs. The elevator breaks down often. Last time it did it took two weeks to repair and apparently the waiting list promise was a lie. three downstairs apartments have recently been rented to new people. The Southgate Apartment complex is perfect for those with more limited incomes looking for a safe, secure, well maintained place to live. II rent efficiency and the amount of living space is amazing …. As large as many one-bedroom apartments I previously looked at and at a far better cost. My main room is large enough to easily have a living room area (with full sized sofa, end tables, and entertainment center, plus a sleeping area with double bed, and two night stands minus any sense of... being crowded. Whoever designed the apartment took into account the need for storage as in addition to the kitchen and full bathroom with walk-in shower there are: a double door wardrobe closet, another shelved area for linens and toiletries, another double door and shelved closed off the kitchen, and a large pantry with shelves and enough space below for trash can, vacuum storage, etc. The complex has attractive grounds and is located directly behind a large shopping center with a Publix, Big Lots, Beall’s Outlet, and several other stores, all within a short walk. Southgate Apartments allows pets and the laundry room is along the lines of a full scale laundromat.
