BE CAREFUL Before Signing a Lease Here
This apartment complex takes advantage of the inexperience of young adult students and the trust of their parents.
My daughter signed a lease to share an apartment with three friends. She was studying abroad for the fall semester and responsibly found another student to live in her place temporarily. Instead of allowing a standard sublet, management instructed that student to sign a new lease. That decision benefited the complex, not the students.
When... unit assignments were finally made, my daughter was placed into a unit that had been sitting vacant for a long time. It felt less like a coincidence and more like a calculated move to fill undesirable inventory.
Here is the biggest red flag for parents and co-signers:
The original lease does NOT include an apartment number or room number. You are signing a legally binding contract without knowing where your child will actually live. That alone should concern anyone putting their name and credit on the line.
This leasing office operates in ways that prioritize their bottom line over fairness and transparency. They rely on students not knowing what questions to ask and parents assuming basic ethical standards are being followed.
If you are a student or a parent considering this complex, read everything carefully, ask direct questions, and do not assume they are acting in your best interest. We learned the hard way.
I truly hope that when their own children are old enough to rent, they are treated with more honesty and respect than we experienced here.
