Landlord special if you know, you know
I’ve lived at this complex for a while now, and unfortunately my experience has been nothing but ongoing issues. The exterior of the buildings is poorly maintained, and the dog park is overrun with fleas. There is also an excessive amount of wildlife on the property. On more than one occasion, raccoons have gotten into the pool area, including while my son was in the water, which was extremely concerning. Raccoons and possums regularly get into the trash as well, leaving messes and creating... additional health and safety issues.
Over the summer, I went three full days without air conditioning before anyone finally came out to fix it. The internet goes down at least once a month for an entire day, and there’s no way for residents to reset it themselves. Inside the apartment, half of the outlets don’t work at all, and the others are so loose that plugs constantly fall out.
The apartment itself was clearly given what people call a “landlord special.” There is paint overspray on the otherwise beautiful wood floors, cabinets are crooked, the backsplash is misaligned, and the caulking around the tub and toilets is peeling because it was not done properly. The paint in the bathtub is also peeling, again due to poor workmanship and improper prep.
Pest control is only provided for the kitchen. If you want to prevent ants or other bugs from coming in through the very large gaps around the doors—which move when the wind blows—you are responsible for handling that yourself or hiring someone privately.
My washer was broken for over a month before they finally replaced the circuit board. On multiple maintenance visits, the technicians smelled strongly of marijuana, and the odor lingered in my apartment for hours afterward.
To make matters worse, on February 1st at around 10 PM, a maintenance worker’s SUV exploded while he was working on it in an on-site garage. Police escorted the vehicle away the next day, and residents have received no communication or reassurance from management about the incident. This lack of transparency following a serious event raises major concerns about safety and overall management.
Given the ongoing maintenance problems, safety concerns, poor workmanship, and lack of communication, we will be moving as soon as possible.
