My partner and I lived in a 2/1 some time ago and we only lasted 8 months in our year lease. We had a ground floor apartment underneath a heavy set tenant and her large dogs...and we heard everything she ever did. The ceiling was so loud we couldn’t even sleep. Basically loud creaking noises and lots of thumps. Appliance noise too. We could hear the dogs jump off the bed, showers running, literally everything and it was LOUD.

Ironically, when she moved out, a thin gentleman moved in and the... ceiling noise was still pretty bad. So if ceiling noise is a problem for you, make sure you don’t get a ground floor apartment.
