    BEWARE! Before Paying Non Refundable Applications Fees!

    My SCAD student applied for a 2 bedroom with a roommate. Each roommate paid $100 application fee. I had to be a guarantor for my student because she did not qualify on her own.
    I ALSO HAD TO PAY A $100 application fee as a co-signer.
    $300 out the door. Non refundable.
    Long story short, as a guarantor, I have to earn 4x the rent for the entire apartment even though my daughter is only paying 1/2 the rent. And I do not earn 4x the rent of the apartment because they are expensive.
    Just a warning to    … those with young adults / students.... to be wary of paying those fees unless you've done the math and are solidly over 4x the rent.
