Legacy Meadows

I would strongly caution anyone considering Legacy Meadows before signing a lease.

My son moved into Legacy Meadows on August 10th, and in less than a month, there have already been eight maintenance requests submitted through the resident dashboard, with multiple issues still unresolved.

The most concerning issue has been the pest problem. We have repeatedly reported cockroaches in the apartment, documented what we have found, and continued asking for the problem to be properly addressed. Now… it has escalated even further.

My son left Des Moines for three days to come home for the weekend. When he returned, he discovered that a rodent had gotten into food inside the apartment and chewed through a loaf of bread. I have photos documenting this as well. Between rodents getting into their food and the ongoing cockroach problem, I don't understand how anyone could consider this an acceptable living environment.

What makes the situation even more frustrating is the lack of communication. We have attempted to contact the office and our phone calls are not being answered or returned. When a resident is dealing with sanitation and pest issues this serious, ignoring calls is unacceptable.

We have not even been here a month. A college student should be able to leave his apartment for a few days and return without wondering what has been crawling through his food. Parents should not have to worry about whether the apartment they are paying for is sanitary and safe for their child to live in.
At this point, after the cockroach infestation, the rodent issue, eight maintenance requests, unresolved problems, and lack of response from management, we simply want to be released from this lease so my son can find a clean and properly maintained place to live.

I would encourage anyone considering Legacy Meadows to take our experience seriously. Nobody should have to live like this, especially within weeks of moving into a new apartment. Read More
