Awful property management

I had been one of the first tenants in this building, and at the time, there was absolutely no sound proofing between walls. Property management is heavy-handed in discipline. One rental inspection left me with a note threatening eviction unless the issue was resolved in 7 days (no warning prior). The issue? There was a barely perceptible ring of water in the toilet that took approximately 5 seconds to clean, and one minor stain in the bathtub that also took almost no time to clean; apparently... their expectation is the place should be showroom ready at all times? Upon move out, after going through a very rigorous cleaning, they either a) nitpicked the most barely visible issues, or b) invented issues outright (with no photos as evidence to verify, or prove wrong). When I challenged this after I moved out of Dubuque (something I recommend as many people do as possible), one of the Gronen owners gave me a boilerplate "we apologize you feel this way/we stand by our staff" message while absconding with my security deposit.

Property management in general is extremely rude and unresponsive; if you ask them questions, you might get a response, and if you ask them if they are aware of your communication to them, you will get a snide reply as though you are questioning their work ethic. Just awful. I moved to the Chicago area and have experienced nothing like Gronen Properties, and if I ever come back to Dubuque, there is not a chance I will ever rent from them again.
