Transfering Unit
We have lived in Sun Prairie for a year. We have been good tenants, no issues. We wanted to move to a bigger unit and were told that we had to reapply and put a new deposit down, wait 30 days for our old deposit to be returned, and the reasoning I understood was that things might have changed in our income or damage to the unit. I am a property manager for a different company, and I have never heard of such a thing—the deposit transfers with any damage, etc. taken out. Seems like anyone who... renews should have to reapply as well then. We were going to pay them more money a month, and now we are looking for a different place. Not to mention the gentleman in the office was rude and very short and in no way helpful with this issue. To me, it makes no sense at all.

As we discussed, the process you referenced is our standard... procedure for any resident requesting a transfer to a different unit. In accordance with Fair Housing guidelines, we are required to treat all applicants equally—regardless of how long they’ve lived in the community—and ensure that each unit meets our qualification standards.
We appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly and hope the conversation helped clarify the reasoning behind our policies. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
