Hi, I’m Chad. For the past 20 years, I’ve specialized in residential rentals throughout Greater Boston, so I know what separates an average apartment from an exceptional one. When I decided to move closer to my son in Wakefield, I approached my own search with the same experienced eye I use when evaluating properties for my clients. I knew exactly what mattered to me, and I wasn’t willing to settle. Honestly, I didn’t expect to find a property that would convince me to rearrange one of the busiest weeks of my year and move on September 1, but this one did. Now that I live here, I can confidently say it was absolutely worth it.

Here’s what won me over.

First, it’s a brand-new, mid-sized building. That matters. You get the modern construction, beautiful finishes, garage parking, and efficiency of a newly built property without the impersonal feel of an enormous apartment complex. The building feels quieter and more manageable, and you won’t have to walk a quarter mile just to reach your apartment. Simply drive into the garage, park underneath the building, and take the elevator up.

Then there’s the location. The property is directly off Route 95 near the Lynnfield line, with convenient access to Routes 93 and 1. Boston can usually be reached within 30 minutes, and having several possible routes makes traveling throughout the North Shore and Greater Boston especially convenient. MarketStreet Lynnfield and Whole Foods Market are right around the corner, while scenic Lake Quannapowitt and Wakefield’s town center are also close by. There’s even an excellent daycare nearby that my own son attended and that I can personally recommend.

Now for the apartments themselves. They’re brand-new, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with high ceilings, central A/C, an abundance of closet space, tons of kitchen cabinetry, and a huge pantry. I own a lot of things, and nearly every other apartment I considered would have required me to rent additional storage. Here, everything fits comfortably.

The kitchens are gorgeous, with quartz countertops, a deep sink, sleek stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher with hidden controls, and a generous countertop overhang that’s perfect for bar seating. Even the refrigerator beeps to let you know if the door hasn’t been closed completely. Electrical outlets are everywhere, and with all-new wiring, you shouldn’t be tripping breakers unless you’re trying to power half the building from your apartment.

Both bathrooms are beautifully finished, and the quartz double vanity makes sharing the main bathroom in the morning much easier, not that you have to, because there’s also a second full bathroom. The full-sized in-unit washer and dryer are another major advantage. These aren’t the undersized machines commonly found in apartment buildings; I washed my king-sized comforter without a problem.

The property also borders conservation land, giving it a peaceful setting that’s difficult to find in such a convenient location. My apartment faces the rear, so I have beautiful wooded views and feel as though I’m looking out into my own private forest.

I also didn’t realize until moving in just how private the balconies feel. Because of the way they’re positioned, I can’t see my neighbors while sitting outside, which is exceptionally rare in a building like this.

The only separately paid utility is electricity, and Wakefield’s municipal electric service generally has better rates. Combined with brand-new construction, modern appliances, and new electrical systems, that should help keep utility costs lower than at many older properties.

There isn’t a large clubhouse, pool, or oversized fitness center, and I consider that a benefit. During my search, comparable properties offering those amenities were generally at least $400 more per month, often for smaller apartments. I would much rather pay for the living space, storage, quality finishes, privacy, and garage parking I’ll actually use every day.
