West Bath is a peaceful, rural community with lots of nice walking trails and views of the coastline. Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary is just a stone’s throw from the cottage and includes a 2.75-mile trail system that winds through the coastal forest of pine, spruce, and fir and is home to many wonderful species of birds including bald eagles, great blue heron, and many migratory birds.

The City of Bath is 15 minutes away: Bath is a beautiful, quintessential New England town located along the banks of the Kennebec River. Deemed a 'distinctive destination' by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the downtown is lined with historic brick and granite buildings that showcase locally owned restaurants, bakeries, bars, and shops. Bath is also home to the world class shipbuilder, Bath Iron Works.

Wiscasset (15 minutes), Boothbay Harbor (45 minutes), Camden and Rockport (both 1 hour). Freeport (20 minutes) or the City of Portland (45 minutes). Bowdoin College is in the neighboring town of Brunswick (15 minutes away).
