Elliott Park Apartments

On the fringe on Clawson, I can't recommend this apartment for safety at all. Especially if you are a woman living alone. Multiple car break ins at the lot, even so bad that someone's window got broken as a result of car theft. On top of this, the neighboring cheaper apartment complex has a shady character that was going up to the back sliding doors of the floor apartments. He stood out front of a woman's door at 10 at night when she let her dog out, asked her creepy questions, and then… continued to pace outside of the apartment back and forth. Many tenants saw him do this, video proof as well. The Clawson cops were called and continued to show up for weeks watching the area but weren't able to do anything because he denied ever doing it. The worst part is that the complex didn't do anything about the car thefts or shady characters. No installing cameras (there are no cameras as far as I'm concerned) and no notifying the tenants of car break ins so that they can watch out. Radio silence, even though I know a tenant sent them an email about it.
There is a reason all the original tenants of the complex have a groupchat where they share their ailments of the Elliot Park Apartments. Appliances were regularly not hooked up right and literally FLOODED multiple apartments. Personally, my dishwasher backed up because maintenance didn't come for 3 whole months to fix by garbage disposal, and they only finally came once my dishwasher flooded my kitchen. They also haven't caulked any of the shower/tubs and I know they leaked through the ceiling of multiple apartments to the ground floor units. Maintenance does not come fix things promptly and the property managers actually get petty on the phone/email when you try to remind them you need maintenance.
Lastly, the apartments are small and overpriced, especially for being in an unsafe area, and only photograph well. AND don't forget the birds that get into the bathroom vents. I personally had a family of starlings living in my bathroom vent for 2 months because the managers wouldn't come take them out. When they finally came to check it out (after I had been inhaling the ammonia smell coming from the nest for 2 months already and listening to chirping every time I used the bathroom) they told me that they couldn't take the birds out due to them still being in there, and I had to wait for the babies to jump out. I've had problems from day one. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. I've found out about a lot of things after moving in. This is not a luxury apartment, there is no fitness center as advertised and before I signed my lease I was told there would be one. You can hear your neighbors walking and talking. You gas bill will be astronomical in the winter because it is poorly insulated and constructed. Management is not on site and their actions are as such.

To the untrained eye this apartment looks good in pictures only, this is for you. As a tenant I can tell you every single person here has either had flooding or broken appliances among other issues. This would be doable if maintenance and property managers were easy to get ahold of but they aren’t. And let’s not forget their run-ins with the City of Clawson and their inability to notify tenants when crime goes on in our own back yards. Not expecting many renewed leases in 2023.
