A Hidden Gem

My husband & I found the Westgate Apartments by chance last summer. It's not well advertised & there are many other apartments in the area that are well advertised, so these ones are easy to miss. If you're looking in this area, make sure to take a look at these apartments!

POSITIVES:
1) Location—less than 2 miles north of downtown Royal Oak. 4 min drive to Kroger, 5 min drive to I-75, & 10 min walk to Wagner Park.
2) Cost—for our 1 bed 1 bath (plus cat rent) it's less than $900 a month. Water...
& heat are included. Parking is free.
3) Tons of space—the living room/dining room & bedroom are huge! Seriously the bedroom is like the size of a 2 bed hotel room. Also tons of closet space.
4) Management—the owner, Bill, is really nice and easy going. The manager, Don, lives in one of the apartments, so he's super quick to respond to any issues.
5) Quiet & respectful neighbors—generally everyone is pretty quiet & keeps to themselves. We've never had an issue with missing packages or mail.
6) Overall cleanliness—the apartment itself is pretty clean. We did a deep-cleanse of the bathroom & kitchen when we moved in, but who wouldn't. I've hardly seen any bugs inside our apartment, literally like 2 tiny spiders & a couple of gnats here & there. The laundry room is pretty clean & tidy too.

NEGATIVES:
1) Traffic is loud—our unit faces 12 Mile Rd & the sound of traffic never stops.
2) No outdoor space—there's no balcony or patio for any of the apartments.
3) Bedroom gets hot—the air conditioning unit is in the living room & it doesn't cool the bedroom at all.
4) Old appliances/decor style—our apartment specifically has older appliances, so they're not stylish BUT they do work perfectly fine. Dark cabinets in the kitchen. No dishwasher, but the sink is pretty big & there's a good amount of counter space. Bathroom styling is older but in good condition. Air-con unit, fans, doors, hardware, blinds, ect. are all pretty dated-looking. Our unit has hardwood floors though which are really nice looking.

I would definitely recommend these apartments!
