E Street Flats
The E Street Flats provides fairly satisfactory apartment for the price. It is listed as student housing, as at least one resident per unit must be enrolled in school. This keeps the price fairly low--my roommate and I pay $1000 per month for a two-bedroom, two bathroom unit. All utilities are included at a set rate of $20 per resident, making the total cost for my roommate and I $1040.
It is conveniently located near Bethel University and the University of Northwestern for college students,... and the building has just about everything a student might need in order to prevent extra trips to campus. For example, there is a study lounge, game room, fitness center, laundry room ($1.25 per wash and $1.25 per dry) and a theater room.
The biggest downside of the building is the lack of outdoor access. None of the units have outside doors, and some of them do not even have a window that looks outside (many simply have windows that look into the fitness center). The building was recently renovated from a hotel into an apartment complex, and so the units feel clean and modern for the most part, but there are leaking problems every now that ought to be permanently solved.
The complex will try to promote that they do not require a damage deposit, but that does not matter considering they charge a non-refundable $200 move-in fee along with a $50 application fee.
