A comfortable home that's very close to perfect for this time in our lives
My wife and I have been living at Eastland Court for almost a year. Our two-bedroom home is REALLY comfortable, with a thoughtful layout that, with some careful space planning, allows me to continue working from home and my wife to continue to enjoy her quilting activities. The "3-D Tour" on the website shows the layout accurately. Living on the fourth floor, we enjoy our balcony even more than we thought we would, with a view of a hiking/biking trail, the Little Blue River, and a heavily... wooded hill.
An in-apartment washer and dryer make laundry far less of a chore than it might otherwise be. A built-in microwave saves kitchen space, and the pantry is a real plus as well. A walk-in shower in the bathroom and support bars in the shower and next to the toilet ease concerns about falls and mobility issues. Smoke alarms, a sprinkler system, and a direct connection to emergency services without the need for a 911 call make our home even more secure. When comparing rents, remember that Eastland Court rents include ALL utilities, including water, electric, heat, air conditioning, trash removal, and basic Xfinity cable TV and internet.
We rent both a garage and an indoor storage room. The storage room is on our floor and quite accessible. The garage is more than adequate for our car. We appreciate the security system, the telephone messaging system announcing activities and providing information, the indoor mailboxes in the lobby, with outgoing mail service, the small but adequate exercise room, the community rooms (very much like libraries or family rooms) on every floor, and the impressive schedule of activities. We don't participate in a lot of those activities, but we're happy to know they're available. The community is smoke free, which we appreciate, and very pet friendly.
I said "very close to perfect" and, of course, there will always be something we wish were different. First among these, for us, is a garbage disposal in the kitchen. We haven't lived without a garbage disposal in a long time, and that took some getting used to. An icemaker would have been.a nice addition, but we're fine without it. The trash removal service could function more efficiently,and water pressure could be stronger. The quality of our live here at Eastland Court is excellent, all things considered. Especially with such a reasonable rent, it would be unrealistic to expect absolute perfection. A five-star review is, in my opinion, very justified.
