Hillman Commons Lofts

I feel the pictures didn't lie about the complex and the apartment. I toured the one bedroom. Nice space. Nice amenities. Balcony is nice. Nice sized bathroom. I was pleasantly pleased with the tour and what was available within the apartment itself. I recommend this complex! I will be moving there in a few days!!!

My daughter has lived in a studio at Hillman Commons for 9 months and has had an exceptional experience. Halee is an excellent manager, always accessible and helpful. The studio is more spacious than most one bedrooms and has been the perfect space for one person. The building has very good amenities and is in the best part of Clinton, with an easy walk to campus. It is well built, providing a peaceful environment. I definitely recommend Hillman Commons!

I toured the apt complex with Halee in hopes of finding a possible home for my son who will tentatively be attending MS College. She was great and gave a very informative tour of the one and two bedroom apartments. She answered every question and gave me insight to things that may be coming to the area. I do love the complex. It’s located in a very safe area close to Clinton’s downtown, MC, the post office, police station, a few eateries, grocery store, etc. It’s a decent sized apt building that... has ample parking and charging stations for electric vehicles. The apartments I toured were a one bedroom and two bedroom on the first level. They were both a good size. I was surprised at the height of the ceilings on the first floor. They are 12 ft tall!!! This makes them feel very airy. The apartments on other levels are 9ft based on what I was informed. In my opinion, the apt looks better in person than online. Looking at the pictures, I totally thought the countertops were formica, and I was initially disappointed. However, in touring, I learned that they are ivory quartz. All the appliances are stainless steel and the washer and dryer are hidden away in both apts. The one bedroom has a pantry, but the two bedroom doesn’t which is probably ok because there’s a decent amount of cabinets. In the common areas, there is a sitting area to lounge with friends, a pool table, and what appeared to be a ping pong table. There is also a gym, a few study areas for small study groups, and a coffee area. I’ve looked at many apartments and the rent for the one bedroom and two bedroom are comparable to the average price that you will find for new apartments in any college town. The only thing I didn’t see was a pool. I’m not sure if there is one, but if my son attends MC, I will definitely look to get him in this complex.

I can’t speak on actually living in these apartments but I toured with the intention of applying to move in and for the rent they are charging, this place is very cheaply built. The ceilings are extremely low, the cabinets feel like cardboard with sharp, plasticy handles and the doors are extremely flimsy. The spaces look WAY bigger and more elegant in the photos online but in person, major let down. As for the studios, forget it! The space was extremely cramped - your bed will practically be... touching the kitchen counter and you’ll barely be able to fit that and a couch and TV.

I will say that the washer/dryer combo are very large and the balconies are nice but small. The location is superb for MC students and the neighborhood is very safe. There’s also a gym which looks to have decent equipment but no amenities besides that. For the area, I would probably recommend lowering the price of rent.

Also, the tour was extremely disorganized and the person who toured me had very minimal customer service (constantly interrupter by calls) and was very dressed down. Definitely not what I expected from a property that presents itself as more on the high-end side.

Definitely recommend taking a tour BEFORE you apply - reality is extremely different from the photos. Read More
