Good Space for the Price, but Serious Safety and Management Problems
This apartment community does have some advantages. The complex is well connected to UNC by multiple bus routes, and the units are fairly spacious compared to what you pay in the area. Those features initially made it seem like a reasonable option for students or commuters.
However, the overall living experience has been deeply disappointing.
To begin with, interactions with management have been frustrating and unprofessional. When I reached out about a missing package, the front desk staff... tried to help but ultimately passed the issue along to the property manager. Instead of offering support or guidance, the manager dismissed my concern, told me to contact the police, and abruptly ended the call. The lack of empathy and accountability was striking.
Noise has also been a recurring issue. Despite multiple complaints about loud disturbances from the apartment above, no meaningful action was taken. Additionally, the leasing office is located on a steep hill, which makes it inconvenient to visit in person, especially without a car.
Privacy has been another major concern. Maintenance and pest control workers have repeatedly entered the apartment without prior notice. On several occasions, they came in even when no one answered the door. Although the individual workers were generally polite, the practice itself felt invasive and unsafe, and complaints about it did not lead to any policy changes.
Getting to the bus stop is also genuinely dangerous. Residents must cross a busy highway that lacks a proper crosswalk or pedestrian signal. Vehicles move very quickly along this road, making the crossing nerve racking. The situation is even worse during winter months, when darkness sets in early and visibility is extremely poor.
Finally, the neighborhood is not walkable for basic necessities. There is no grocery store within a 15- 25 minute walking distance, which makes daily life difficult without a car. As a result, I had to rely heavily on Walmart delivery just to get essentials.
In short, while the apartment’s size and bus access are attractive on paper, serious issues with management, noise control, safety, and accessibility make it hard to recommend this place to anyone who values peace of mind and convenience.
