Sturwood Hamlet Apartments

My hope is that this review saves someone from making the mistake of moving here, especially if you are considering the end-unit townhome that is currently available. Please make sure you ask for a full tour so you can truly see and smell the condition of the unit for yourself before signing anything.

I lived here for almost three years in a townhome with my son. While normal issues can happen anywhere, the property was outdated and far from upgraded. There was also no washer or dryer in the... unit, which was a major inconvenience.

The biggest issue was a neighboring tenant who smoked marijuana constantly, to the point that the smell regularly came through the vents and filled our home. There was also inappropriate and unfriendly behavior from that neighbor, which made the living situation even worse. Management’s response was essentially to deal with it.

I was eventually given the option to leave, which I accepted. However, after moving out, I was charged excessive amounts for what appeared to be normal wear and tear after nearly three years of living there.

Overall, complaints were not taken seriously, concerns were brushed aside, and moving out resulted in unfair charges. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Read More

I'll start with the good things. Huge for a 1 bedroom, den is a big plus, neighbors very nice. Landlord responds to all inquiries in a timely manner. Thick walls and can't normally hear anything through them, even within your own apartment. Parking is right up front and a very short walk, well kept yards. Super quiet area, very safe. Mail comes right to your door, no far away boxes here! No public transit for miles though so make sure you drive. And now the negatives: Pool is very expensive to... use (hundreds of dollars for the season). We frequently get centipedes, stink bugs, and the windows don't seal properly. Dated appliances- the central air can't get our apartment below 78F in peak summer, and the freezer has warm spots that don't keep things frozen.

We were at Sturwood Hamlet for only a year, but it was a good year. The neighborhood is in a quiet area where you'll also see deer. Our one-bedroom apartment was roomy, plus they have storage in the basement behind the laundry room. Christine, the residential manager, is friendly and knowledgeable. The one work request I had was resolved quickly by the maintenance staff, and they also acted quickly on snow removal. The apartments at Sturwood Hamlet are perfect! They are the perfect size and they are well kept and maintained. The office staff and maintenance personal are very knowledgeable and are welling to help with any problem. They are the only complex in the area that accept pets large and small. The area is also very quiet and the neighbors are friendly. I would recommend the apartments at Sturwood Hamlet to anyone looking for comfortable and up to date accommodations.

Great place to live nice and quiet maintenance is great and the manager Christine is so helpful and nice highly recommend living here.
