READ BEFORE YOU MOVE IN!!!
I have lived in this building for six months, and there has been a total of 18 building wide fire alarms. These alarms occur at all hours of the day and night, including as late as 1:00-3:00 AM, and some have continued for up to an hour. The alarms are so loud that they can be heard from outside the building, making them impossible to ignore even when attempting to leave the area.
Beyond being an inconvenience, these repeated alarms have a real impact on residents' wellbeing. Frequent exposure... to loud alarms can contribute to multiple health concerns, and worsen preexisting conditions.
What is most concerning is the lack of response from management. Reporting the issue to the maintenance line results in little to no action, and there is rarely staff available on site to discuss ongoing concerns. Despite nearly 20 false alarms in just six months, there has been little communication regarding the cause of the problem or what steps are being taken to resolve it.
The building's access system also creates problems during emergencies. All doors are controlled through a phone app, and if you become locked out during an alarm or emergency situation, you may be required to PAY A FEE to regain access. This policy feels especially unreasonable given how frequently residents are forced to evacuate.
A fire alarm system is meant to protect residents, but when false alarms become routine, it creates alarm fatigue and can cause people to take future alarms less seriously. The combination of constant disruptions, potential health impacts, poor communication, and lack of accountability has made my experience here extremely disappointing. Prospective tenants should carefully consider these issues before choosing to live in this building.
