The Avalon Riverview is located across from mid-town Manhattan and is home to the best views in NYC. Riverview is one of the older complexes in the area but that comes with advantages. Each bedroom had a walk-in closet, there is also on site storage. For NYC, this is a great building with a number of great amenities like, community room, roof top deck with grills and gym. Riverview is not cheap, it is considered a luxury apartment, but is also very comfortable and friendly.

Ideal for young families
I moved to NY from Chicago in February and I was mostly only aiming for a safe area that was still affordable, which I definite achieved!
Long Island City is so convenient being one stop from Manhattan, and the East Ferry is just outside. The grocery store across the street is high quality and average prices.
I would give this building five stars, but they literally just this week removed out gym in place of a "kids zone". I preferred the gym, but this will be a nice feature for anyone with... kids. And I must note we still have access to the gym (and pool) at the other Avalon building two blocks over.
I do love having a dishwasher and washer dryer in my unit. We converted our living room to a fourth room, so I don't have access to the balcony, but this is also a really nice feature. By the way, any group looking to keep rent affordable, the living room is huge and easily converted to a room.
There is a day care across the street too. So any young couple with a baby and/or dog would love this place!
