EastGate Apartments

I recently moved out of this apartment complex and had a very disappointing experience. They took $400 from my deposit, claiming the apartment was not clean, which is absolutely not true. I cleaned the apartment thoroughly, as I always do when I move out. This is the first time I've been fined upon moving out, despite leaving this apartment in the same condition as all my previous ones.
Even though I requested evidence multiple times, they did not provide any proof, just a bill for $180 for… steam carpet cleaning, $160 for kitchen and bath cleaning, and $60 for “building supplies drip pand” (!!) which is completely unacceptable. The whole apartment, including the carpet, kitchen (which is so small and barely walkable), and bathroom, was clean when I left. There were no marks on the walls, just two tiny nails in the bedroom, and none in the dining room.
Additionally, the unit was in the basement and extremely noisy. Anytime someone walked upstairs, it would wake me up in the middle of the night. When I first moved in, the fridge was not working, and they replaced it with one from their storage that was absolutely disgusting. The heater is centrally controlled by maintenance, and last year they didn't turn it on until sometime in October, even though it had been very cold in Syracuse, especially at night, for weeks prior. So, although they say heating is included, you still need your own heater until they decide to turn on the complex heating. Despite these issues, I never complained.
I do not recommend this apartment complex due to their unfair deposit practices and the overall poor living conditions. If you do not have the time or an attorney to get your deposit back from them, STAY AWAY! Read More
