A disappointing shift in living standards
I’ve lived here for a couple of years now. To be fair, the first two years were actually great, which makes the sharp decline over this past year even more frustrating. It used to be a quiet, well-managed community, but the standards just aren't being held up anymore.
If you have kids, think long and hard before moving here. During the spring and summer, management sends out emails almost weekly (sometimes multiple times a week) telling parents to keep kids out of the parking lots because other... residents complain constantly. The issue is that there is almost no green space on-site for them, and what little grass we do have is usually covered in dog poop. Unless you want to walk ten minutes down the road every time your kids want to play, be prepared for constant friction with both the office and the neighbors.
The lack of policy enforcement is a recurring theme. Management is very good at reminding everyone what the rules are, but actual enforcement is almost nonexistent. People park wherever they want regardless of whether they have a parking sticker, making guest parking feel useless. You’ll also find both complex entrances regularly blocked by parents parked in the road for school pickup and dropoff.
Safety and upkeep have also slipped. I’ve had to stop my car multiple times to avoid a collision with branded Westbrooke Commons maintenance trucks veering over the center line on Kenwick because the drivers were distracted by their phones. On top of that, trash constantly piles up in the bushes at the edge of the property, and the quiet atmosphere has been replaced by people blasting music in the lots as soon as it gets warm. It’s a shame because the place has potential, but right now, it feels like people just do whatever they want without consequence.
