Management is horrible but apartment is fine
The actual apartment is OK. Some little things that are inconvenience can include that the paint is super cheap and flakes off at the most minor of bumps or scratches, the blinds are super cheap and breaks like wet paper, and the bathroom might grow mold if you’re not careful with letting the humidity out.
Maintenance is good. They can be a little bossy and might enter your apartment on occasion, that they’re supposed to notify you prior with a email, but they respond pretty quickly.
The real... kicker is the management. There is no office in the building as they are located in a separate facility. If there is a problem, the only way to reach them is via email or emergency contact or maintenance. They are very unsympathetic and very much do not care about their tenants aside from putting on a good show to encourage people to move in.
Additionally, the parking is a disaster. There are options to pay extra for garage parking or reserved parking, but there is no way for these spaces to be enforced and many tenants just park wherever they feel like, including reserved and handicap spaces. There is also no option for U-Haul‘s for moving in to safely unload. They encourage people to park on fifth Avenue but that is a main and busy street with very limited street parking, not feasible for a U-Haul or any small van at all. They are also aggressive with towing, and there is no visitor parking.
Other than those, the location is pretty good as you’re by the short north, which is full of shops, restaurants, and bars. And if you’re going to Ohio State University it’s feasible to take the bus or even walk there.
