Moon Grove Apartments

Great service made move in a lot easier especially since I was a first time renter

We’ve been at moon grove a few years now and have loved it, the newest addition we love is the dog park, management has always been helpful with any of our needs and took care of anything we’ve needed.

I lived at Moon Grove Apartments for two years. This is my personal experience and opinion:

+ The office staff are professional.
+ Maintenance is fast to respond to emergency calls.
+ The pool and fitness center are nice amenities.

- This complex is not the safest. There have been increased reports of attempted break-ins and domestic disputes, including gunshots once.
- The walls, windows, doors, and floors are less than paper thin. I heard everything my next door and downstairs neighbors… did all hours of the day and night. I tried to soundproof my apartment with thick rugs and 1/2” foam floor pads, foam wall panels, and other fixtures but it didn’t help.
- There is zero insulation. I kept my heat on 67 in the winter because the heater could barely keep up. Still, even at 67 degrees, my gas bills were always over $100 a month.
- The air conditioning don’t work well at all. The coldest my apartment could get was 78.
- The apartments are “newly renovated” but the work is so poorly done. Overall, cheap and bad work that is supposedly “new.”
- The apartment was filthy when I moved in and was not cleaned at all. This is especially frustrating because Moon Grove will try to charge you for every speck of dust after move-out but they clearly didn’t have someone clean before I moved in.
- You pay for all utilities, even trash and water, and are charged an “administrative fee” by Moon Grove monthly to split your bills. There’s also no recycling.
- The dumpster is usually overfilled and garbage piles up all around it.
- Having guests over can be inconvenient because you need to get a guest parking pass from the office while it’s open. Without a pass, the car will be towed. No surprise visitors.
- There are a lot of people with dogs who don’t clean up after them. Also, there are no limitations on dog breeds or weight. There are a lot of “dangerous breeds” and enormous dogs in this complex. This could be an issue if you don’t feel comfortable around certain breeds or have small children.
- The cost of rent is very high for this area, especially for everything I noted above. You also pay several fees that are hundreds of dollars to move in and pay monthly rent for every pet that you have. If you have more than one vehicle, you have to pay $25 a month for an extra car pass. They also charge you for every little thing they can during move-out.

I moved into my apartment in 2019 when they just took over management and I couldn't be more happy with my time here. Amy and Stephanie always greeted me with a smile and were great to work with. Sadly my job relocated me back to New York. If I ever game back to Pittsburgh I would definitely come back. The office is what makes this place a home. They really care about you.
