Hoffler Place

I lived here for three years, while the building passed through three different management companies. CLS, the current company, is somehow the worst. Since I've lived here, I have had severe mold issues, water pouring into my closet from the ceiling, doors shifting due to humidity, and water leaking from light fixtures. On top of that, management is rude and difficult to get ahold of, and the parking garage is an absolute scam.

I have been waiting on a phone call from Mallory, the leasing… manager, for days - regarding illegal move out fees that I am being charged. The first lease that I signed three years ago had a waived $250 security deposit incentive, of which the current company is not adhering. In South Carolina, the (over $600) "damages" that I am being charged fall into the range of normal wear and tear over the course of three years. Touch-up painting is not considered "damages" in the state of South Carolina and general spot cleaning does not fall under the premise of an allowable deduction from the security deposit.

I plan on reporting this company and its shady practices to the LLR, CFPB, and every other ethics boards I can find. I wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone. I endured the mold, the faulty foundation of the building, and the water damage to my personal property. If I had known that I would have to deal with all of this after I graduated, I never would have chosen this apartment. Please don't choose this place. Read More

Great staff that made my choice easy. I enjoy the convenience of the location and the rooms are good too. Pool is an added bonus ! ????

Hoffler place is the best! From the first time we contacted Hoffler the staff was always super helpful and friendly. This is a great building for CofC students. It has everything a student could need. Fully furnished, nice size rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen. The building itself also has a nice pool, gym, package room and security. It is maintained very nicely. Great experience!

I'm currently a freshman at CofC and I highly suggest people look into staying at Hoffler Place. It makes living during college really simple especially for new college students who are not used to living by themselves. They have a lot of resident events which gives a lot of opportunities to meet new people and make a lot of friends in the community.
