March Madness is HERE and we’ve already seen some awesome wins and amazing underdog comebacks – how ’bout them Gamecocks?! Do you plan on filling out a bracket this year? Have you already done so? Are you also wondering how you can engage your residents over the next few weeks? This can be a really great time for some fun competition in and around your community. Here are some tips!
Host a community bracket competition! Distribute or email brackets to all of your residents. Make sure your team fills one out, too. At the conclusion of each game, post the winners on your Facebook page. Let your residents know how your team (the leasing office) is doing throughout the competition.
Consider hosting the games in your clubhouse or common area. This will be great way to bring your community together. Let residents know that they can come bearing food, treats, etc. and be sure to let them know that jerseys repping favorite teams are encouraged? Best way to communicate all of this? Community Messenger.
Want to include refreshments and snacks? Good idea. Your residents will appreciate it. However, feeding a party can be like feeding a hungry basketball team, so opt for dishes that serve lots of people and are cost effective. Like pizzas and chips! Or if your residents are starting to get spring fever, consider grilling out one of the warmer weekends!
Make sure you decorate as well! Task this responsibility out to the biggest sports nut on your team! You can go as simple as hanging craft paper basketballs or print off the logo of each team competing and have them on display.
Also, with 64 teams starting the big dance, it’s easy to understand how hosting an event everyday could get a little overwhelming. If you are looking to host March Madness parties, but want to keep the festivities within reason, consider hosting Sweet 16 or Elite 8 celebrations. Focusing your efforts on the last series of games during the conference is a sure way to spark participation and attendance!
