Fielder Square

I lived at Fielder Square for approximately four years, so this review is based on my actual long-term experience as a resident, not a short stay.

During my time there, I lived in both a studio and a one-bedroom apartment. There were things I enjoyed about living at Fielder Square, which is obviously why I stayed as long as I did. However, my experience with the condition and maintenance of my one-bedroom apartment, as well as the way my move-out was handled, ultimately changed my opinion of… the property.

When I moved into the one-bedroom, there were several issues with the condition of the apartment. I dealt with problems involving the bathroom, including a tub that was badly cracked, rust, issues with the stove burners, counters, and other items that I did not feel reflected a properly prepared apartment. The bedroom vent also did not work properly, while the vent in the closet did. I also experienced a hot-water-tank leak and a roach problem. I even paid for pest control myself at one point.

Some repairs were made during my tenancy, but there were also issues that continued or resurfaced. For example, flooring that had previously been repaired was damaged again after issues in the apartment.

What disappointed me the most came after I moved out. Despite the condition of the apartment when I originally received it and the maintenance history during my tenancy, I received charges totaling around $1,500, including charges related to flooring/walls and a $175 cleaning charge. I left the apartment clean, so I have formally disputed charges that I do not believe accurately reflect the condition in which I left the unit or account for its prior condition and maintenance history.

After being a resident for four years, I expected my move-out to be handled with more consideration of the apartment’s documented history and the issues I experienced while living there.

My advice to anyone considering Fielder Square—or any apartment—is to take detailed, date-stamped photos and videos of absolutely everything on move-in day, submit every maintenance issue in writing, save every work order and email, and take another complete set of photos and videos when you move out.
