Four Years Here: I Wouldn't Choose This Apartment Again
I lived at Island Park & Harbor Town Square Apartments for over four years and genuinely wanted to like living here. I originally moved in because several coworkers recommended it for the location, amenities, value, and peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience was very different.
The biggest issue by far was management. Communication was consistently poor. Getting answers to simple questions often required multiple calls or office visits, and responses frequently came through... dismissive or passive-aggressive emails rather than direct conversations. I rarely felt like anyone took ownership of an issue or genuinely wanted to help.
The security gate was broken for extended periods throughout my tenancy—I'd estimate close to half the time I lived there. Because of this, non-residents regularly entered the property, especially during the summer. I lived near the pool and dealt with late-night parties from people who clearly didn't live there. Despite repeated complaints, management never seemed to make fixing the gate a priority.
There were also frequent vehicle break-ins, rats on the property, a significant leak near my front door that was never properly fixed, and very poor sound insulation between apartments.
My move-out experience reflected the same lack of customer service. I hired a cleaner before leaving but was still charged for multiple cleaning items. More disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility when I had to end my lease due to an unexpected personal change in circumstances. My notice fell just short of the required 60 days, and although I understand contracts are contracts, after more than four years as a reliable tenant who also referred two coworkers to the property, there was no willingness to work with me or even acknowledge my history as a resident.
The apartments themselves are decent, and the location is convenient. Unfortunately, management consistently made living here more frustrating than it needed to be. After four years, I left feeling like residents were treated as account numbers rather than people. I would search elsewhere.
I would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to look at other options before signing a lease. I wish someone had shared an honest review like this with me beforehand.
