As much as I’d like to gatekeep this apartment complex, just can’t do that, because it really is the best! Im from Austin so I’ve lived all over this city in multiple different houses and apartments including more expensive “luxury” complexes, and this is by far my favorite I’ve lived in. The price for what you get is extremely reasonable (especially considering Austin rates), they don’t do crazy annual increases, and the complex and apartments themself are lovely. The area is quiet, right off... the highway so easy to get anywhere, with great proximity to HEB and restaurants, bars, and shopping in Southpark Meadows. I also have to give a huge kudos to the absolutely fantastic leasing staff, seriously everyone that works there is so friendly, easy to work, with and quick to help (shoutout my girl Leilani especially!), and the maintenance guys are great as well! Seriously best property management staff I’ve come across. I’ve lived here 2 years and it was an easy choice to renew again. Wish there were more complexes like this in the city! 5 stars, absolutely would recommend!

I've lived here for over 3 years now, and I'm considering moving only because of a hike in rent (which is typical of renting anywhere in Austin, amirite?).
Pros: Good location- i35 is close, southpark meadows shopping center is minutes away Dog friendly and relatively clean - they keep the dog stations well stocked with baggies and empty the bins regularly. Maintenance is regularly cleaning up after careless dog owners and picking up litter. Trash is picked up regularly, although people do... illegally dump furniture. The complex tries to haul it off as often as they can. Good maintenance - the guys have been working here forever and are really attentive to calls. Never had a problem. Great pools, good dog park, decent parking
Cons: Not gated, but there is a security cart that rides around at night and parking cameras (there have been break-ins, but thr complex responded by beefing up security). Can be loud depending on neighbors and location of apartment. LOTS of dogs, so LOTS of barking. Appliances are cheeeeaaaapppp. Don't expect high end appliances. Plumbing is not the best, but it's okay. Flooring in some Apts is laminate "wood" flooring, aka vinyl which means it scratches easily, so beware.
But overall a good place to live if the cons arent a problem for you.

Horrible Management and Property
My wife and I lived here and moved out October 19th. We were under the impression the building was brand new and that everything was energy efficient and we never realized until we moved how much we were spending here... Our electric bill at Old California was around $150 every month and it was just my wife and I, we didn't work from home or anything. We moved to an older building that has older appliances and my electric bill now is $60.00. We were able to get out of our lease after all the... horrible situations we endured throughout our 6 months. Our apartment was broken into, our cars were broken into and work equipment was stolen, our upstairs neighbors were FROM HELL. We lived on a first floor then and live on a first floor now and I can totally tell you that Old California was built with cheap materials. People let their dogs swim in the pools. There is never any parking. This place is just all around horrible. We're so thankful that we were able to leave. The cops are literally at the apartments every other day. Just avoid this place in general if you want somewhere to live where you are happy to come home everyday.
