YES, This place is a NIGHTMARE!
Everything stated in the reviews below are absolutely true. They take literally, MONTHS to complete any work orders, they are indeed now charging for covered parking ($30 a month, to be exact) Maintenance has come in without knocking, claiming to have a
"work order" when it was just a notice from the complex. I have been complaining about my appliances for months, and the fact that they are infested. I have CHILDREN, these "insects" carry tons of bacteria, they crawl on us at night, it is... absolutely disgusting. We are clean people, we keep the unit as clean as we possibly can. They have gotten entirely out of hand, and they just don't seem to care. We have to keep all of our foods in the fridge, just so that the "insects" won't get to them. We do not have a stove, because that is where the bugs were breeding, and coming from. They've called pest control to address the issue, but even that took months. And that's about ALL they've done. PLUS, they've gone up $60 on rent, which is ridiculous, especially with they way they divide the utilities. If you're thinking about moving here, don't. They don't care about their tenants, all they care about is how much money they can get out of you.

THIS PLACE SUCKS
I honestly thought that things would improve with the newest management. WRONG! They try getting as much money out of you possible and give you very little heads up for major things. For example, they are now charging for covered parking and told the complex about it the day before it starts. It would have been nice to know a week or month ahead of time instead of the day before. Plus there is not enough free parking anyways and it is hard to find a spot to park with this now reserved cover... parking. Wish they would get rid of the reserved parking. Storage units are not worth it even if they just updated the doors and locks. No effort to help ensure people at the back of the complex do not flood when it rains. Washers and driers are horrible and barely ever work. They say they will get us new ones but no signs that they are actually getting them. Just go down the road to the laundromat to save yourself the headache. Prices are the same.
Oh and the utilities. You get charged for electricity, gas, and water that you may or may not have used. The office gets one lump sum and then divides it among all units based on square feet and number of people in the apartment. I would rather pay for what I actually use.

Balcones Heights Apartments
They put in two bbqs, by the middle complex swimming pool. No other bbqs are allowed to be outside, whether gas, charcoal, or electric. If you wish, you can store your bbq in your unit.
Management likes to throw building's construction trash into the residents' trash cans and fill them up. It is not unusual to find pallets, dishwashers, 2x4s, drywall, toilets, ceiling fans, old carpet, and padding, paint cans, and much more haphazardly thrown into the dumpsters. They also place mattresses,... box-springs, bed-rails, refrigerators, stoves and more alongside the dumpsters.
They do not ensure dumpsters are emptied when absolutely full, even on holidays. They do indeed watch via cameras to make sure no one puts garbage next to the cans. You cannot store garbage in your unit, or your porch/balcony.
They are not consistent with following up on work orders for repairs, nor of completing the repairs once started.
They require those who pay for parking to have to call the tow-trucks to pull vehicles from the paid spot. You'll need to tell any and all of your visitors that they cannot park in the covered-spots at all. Otherwise, they probably will get towed.
You cannot even verbally give visitors permission to park in your own paid spot. License plate numbers must be registered with the towing company, and a tag is required for the windshield.
Maintainance and Management are known to just walk into your residence, without knocking or maybe knocking while they open the door. This has been most repelling to us. This has happened three times so far.
And that's all I'm going to say about that.
We look forward to moving as soon as we are able.
