Six hundred West Main

This is without a doubt the best apartment in Charlottesville. Being within walking distance of UVA and downtown is spectacular. There are several great restaurants and bars within 100 feet of the front door.

The location is obviously premier but the service I’ve experienced has been top notch. Requests are attended to even on evenings and weekends. Work orders are handled within 24 hours.

Best of all is the design of the building. The beautiful floor to ceiling windows present so much… natural light that can be concealed with modern roller blinds. The matte black cabinets and all the finishes are very modern and sleek. The courtyard and common areas are beautifully designed and very quiet. I can confidently say this is the worst apartment complex I’ve ever lived in. Don’t let the high rent fool you...my experience at six hundred west main falls far short of anything resembling “luxury living.”

On the first day I moved in, I discovered multiple previously undocumented maintenance issues. Some were addressed, but the most serious problem was not: my shower leaked in a way that allowed water to seep under the bathroom flooring, where it would remain trapped for weeks without drying.… I documented the resulting mold growth, as well as brown liquid being forced up from beneath the floor when stepped on. Despite this, no one seemed particularly concerned about the issue.

Over the course of eight months, maintenance staff and plumbers came to my unit at least ten times. Multiple workers indicated that the shower enclosure needed to be replaced, yet management repeatedly delayed taking meaningful action. I was told on more than one occasion that the issue would be resolved, only to have another temporary fix attempted instead. I have dealt with ongoing stress, constant disruptions from people repeatedly entering my apartment, and periods where I could not properly use my bathroom.

When they finally agreed to replace the enclosure, the experience was still disappointing. The installation quality was extremely poor, not even up to the standards of the previous enclosure, and the unit was left in a significant mess that I had to clean myself over the weekend. For the rent this property charges, especially after increasing my rent, that level of service is unacceptable.

Additional issues: The “custom” roller blinds make several windows impossible to properly operate. Outdoor common areas frequently smell strongly of pet waste because residents let their dogs poop and pee everywhere.

This was nowhere near the standard of living I expected for the price. Based on my documented experience, I would strongly caution others before signing a lease here. Read More

First of all, Megan is awesome. She's always there helping you out with anything you may need. Second, this is by far the nicest apartment building that I've seen in Charlottesville. Modern, cozy, and close to everything you may need. Overall, great place to live.

I am enjoying living here. My apartment is clean, quiet, and in a great location. The appliances are all great, and the trash collection system is really nice. Megan is very helpful and friendly. The only real downside is the cost.
