Great place to live
I've lived in apartment buildings scattered across the county and have to say this was the best. I lived here for two years and had no notable issues, and the usual apartment maintenance issues were resolved quickly. My 90lb boxer/lab mix was comfortable here as well and loved the elevator rides for making friends with new folks. I think my favorite apartment feature was the climate control, especially in the summer. Having the apt (for relatively cost-effective energy bills) at a crisp and dry... 68 degrees during humid 90-degree summer days was wonderful. The appliances were modern and caused zero problems. The two-in-one washer/dryer unit took some getting used to, but once I figured out to do smaller wash loads I ended up liking the ability to toss stuff in and go about my day without having to think about it. Oh, and the high vaulted ceilings were a nice touch too. My one-bedroom felt twice its size.
The location is pretty sweet too, the campus is essentially the dividing line between the downtown area – which has restaurants, bars and shops (including a pet store I’d take my dog to a few times a week) – and a residential neighborhood (mostly owner-occupied). A five-minute walk to the west is the Wisconsin River and Green Circle trail. Next door is the Great Northern Distillery which would often have live music. Beyond that, closer to the river, are the city’s event bandshell. Really, the location couldn’t be better.
As far as apartment complex life goes, this was the best experience I’ve had by a wide margin. The property manager runs a tight ship and the maintenance folks are great to work with. If I hadn’t moved in with my girlfriend a few blocks away I’d have gladly signed a lease for a third year.
