5 Easy Upgrades for Your Apartment

5 Easy Upgrades for Your Apartment

Rental life often feels restricting, and while there are some things you simply cannot do in a rental, there are, in fact, lots of opportunities you might be unaware of. Everyone wants to make their space feel like their own and not a cookie cutter replica of their neighbors. Today I’m going to share a few ideas to help you reclaim your space! Upgrade the Kitchen and Bathroom Hardware This might feel like a permanent change, but it’s not. The only limiting aspect to this is that you’ll have to find hardware that fits into your existing holes because you probably shouldn’t be drilling into your cabinets. However, there will still be plenty of options for you! Once you have installed everything, just keep the old hardware in a Ziploc baggie and store it in one of the cabinets so you can easily replace them before moving. Easy Spruce Hardware Change Lighting Fixtures Light fixtures aren’t permanent. Replacing light fixtures can be done quickly and easily, and they completely change the look of a space. (However, if you are uncomfortable with wiring, I highly suggest hiring an electrician.) Once again, just hold on to the originals and you can either ask the property manager if he or she would like them switched back or offer to leave yours if you want to avoid the hassle of removing them. In the worst-case scenario, you have to make the switch and still have some awesome light fixtures to take with you! Easy Spruce New Pendant Light Change Faucets Faucets are another easy way to completely transform a space. Typical rentals have very generic and often cheapest-available faucets throughout the home. Switch them out for something more your style. Whether it be modern, farmhouse or traditional, you can get the look you’ve always desired. Easy Spruce Kitchen Faucet Add Window Coverings This one might seem more obvious, but it’s not uncommon to see vertical blinds in apartments, so if you want to change out that hotel vibe, hang your very own curtains. If you have a picky property manager, you might have to patch those holes when you are done, but it’s well worth the transformation your newly hung fabric will make! Easy Spruce Hang Curtains Add Temporary Wallpaper If you aren’t able to paint, there is actually a product that offers you change in a big way: temporary wallpaper. This is a great way to add interest to a boring area, create an accent wall and give yourself some texture. Never be afraid to try something new! Be sure and check out this post to learn how to make your apartment look expensive.
