Get Spa Pampered at Home

Get Spa Pampered at Home

The winter weather can really be rough on skin, hair, and nails. All members of the home and family can enjoy these do-it-yourself at home spa recipes. Softer, younger skin and smoother hair are in your near future with these simple combinations. Skip the spa, and stay right at home!   Hair: Avocado Hair Conditioner Now, I have tried everything from olive oil to mayonnaise in my hair to achieve soft locks. I found this great concoction from WebMD, who cited Chick Living: Frugal and Fabulous, by Kris Koederitz Melcher. This recipe uses avocado and honey, which smooths hair and leaves a fresher scent than what I’ve found with my mayo experience. You will need:
  • 1 avocado, peeled and mashed
  • 2 Tablespoons heavy cream (I’ve also used plain greek yogurt)
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
If you would like, put ingredients in the blender until a thick cream is made. I don’t have a blender, so I just stir and mush everything together until it is a paste. Comb mixture through washed (but still wet) hair, and leave on for 10-15 min. Skin: Coffee Body Scrub Who doesn’t love the smell of coffee? Perfect for the winter weather and dull skin, this rich coffee and chocolate smelling body scrub exfoliates surprisingly well. You may even use old coffee grinds from recently brewed coffee. All of the ingredients  you can easily pick up at your local food and drug store. From spamagazine.com. You will need:
  •     1/4 cup coffee grounds
  •     1/3 cup Shea butter
  •     1-2 teaspoons of cocoa powder
  •     2-3 drops of cherry extract
Blend ingredients together, and rub over skin in the shower. Avoid faces, and concentrate on rough patches such as knees and elbows. Enjoy smelling delicious! Picture by: Public Domain Photos
