Tips for Decorating Your Apartment in Neutrals

Decorating your space can seem a tad bit daunting, even more so when you are not in a permanent place. We all want to live in a spot that feels like home and reflects a bit of us and our own personal style. But how do you go about that and not break the bank? Neutrals.
Neutral Tones
When you stay with neutrals and add in pops of color, you can keep items longer, as they will transition better. One of the easiest places to begin is the living space. A great neutral-toned sofa is a fabulous way to start. It creates a warm, soft look for the room and yet keeps a polished look.

In the bedroom, by staying with a neutral shade and classic shape, such as this tufted, wingback-style bed, your options are endless. You can keep it simple by using only patterned throw pillows, or go for it by adding in dark, rich bedding to make the bed stand out.

Accent lighting is an easy option to add in multiple spots, and this is a perfect table lamp for just that. Keeping with the neutral scheme but with the addition of the wood base, it adds texture and warmth to the space and yet remains visually appealing.
Floor lamp
Add in extra seating by keeping with a traditional, sleek look that you will hold on to for years to come. Toss on a pillow or two, plus a soft, textured throw, and snuggle up next to a side table; your guests won’t want to leave.

Unroll a small, neutral rug onto a spot that will mix in well with your space. By using one like those pictured below, you contribute tons of texture to a room that would otherwise be lost in a neutral space.
Sheepskin Rugs
By keeping with a simple, contemporary and elegant side table, you will have a timeless piece that flows with the space. The best part about this item is the airy look that it has. It’s not heavy and doesn’t waste space.

Throw blankets sit atop my list of favorite items to keep around. Warmth, texture and a bit of coziness are added when you have one out. Keep it neutral with tan and gray tones.

By staying true to a neutral palette in your dining and kitchen areas, you will have pieces that you can always add to without having to worry if they will match and that will keep for years to come.
