Out-of-the-Box Ways to Decorate With Art

Out-of-the-Box Ways to Decorate With Art

Decorating can often be a challenge. Sometimes you lack space, or maybe it’s just an awkward space you are dealing with. No matter what, it always seems like there is one spot that leaves you puzzled. When I’m out of ideas or can’t come up with something, I often think about “what is the stereotype?” or “what would someone hang here?” and then embellish on that. I created a corner gallery wall a while back, and it all started because I felt there needed to be a clock. Well, just a regular, plain Jane clock wasn’t going to cut it for this DIYer. This space also happened to be one of those awkward-sized walls that needed something kinda bigger. I ended up with a very large clock that fit my personality. Decorate with Art wall clock It’s a super easy build. You just need some 1”x6”s cut at the hardware store. Using braces on the back, attach everything together and install clock hardware that you can find at most hobby shops. Decorate with Art gallery wall clock Gallery walls are also a trendy way to fill your wall space. While the clock will make a few larger holes in your wall, I did hang all my frames with command strips to minimize the damage to the walls. So if you want to skip the holes, fill that space in with more frames. You can hang some pretty large frames with those command strips! Sometimes, though, you just don’t want to make more holes in your wall, especially if it’s something heavy, or even mess with the command strips. There are some ways around that. 🙂 Don’t be afraid to lean and layer your décor. This is especially great if you like to change your décor up quite a bit. Since we don’t have a fireplace, I treat my piano kind of like a mantel. Another option would be to hang a shelf in a certain area; you can accomplish this same thing that way. Decorate with Art window frames I took old window screens and a mini wood ladder I built and just leaned them against the wall. Then you can use those window screens to hang more on. For this particular setup, I used craft wire to string the mini glass vases along and wrapped it around a nail on the side of the screen. So just a few tips when you are decorating your walls:
  • Don’t be afraid to go big and bold for those awkward spaces.
  • Get a trendy look by creating gallery walls using command strips.
  • When you want to change out décor, lean and layer your pieces.
