When you are decorating your first place, you probably do not have a stockpile of Christmas decorations from which to choose. That does not mean you have to give up on the idea of having fully decked halls for the holidays. You can find plenty of festive ornaments at your local dollar store so you can spruce up your spruce without breaking the bank.

You can often find large containers of cinnamon in the dollar store’s food aisle. That great value can help you make your own cinnamon applesauce ornaments on the cheap. Add 3/4 cup of applesauce to each 1/2 cup of cinnamon you use. Roll out and cut the dough like Christmas cookies then let air dry overnight. Once the ornaments have dried you can paint or decorate them however you like. The ornaments will give your tree a rustic, homey feel, AND they will make your home smell delicious!

If you would prefer more glamorous Christmas decorations, you can find plenty of bling at the dollar store too.
