How to Fix Scratches on Wood Furniture

Scratches on your wood floor or furniture can turn a beautiful look into an ugly sight. Wood scratch repair is not far away, though. ForRent.com is here to show you how to get scratches out of wood floors and furniture. Here is a quick breakdown of what’s needed:  -For shallow scratches, clean the area with a damp cloth. -Then dampen a rag with wood stain marker that matches the wood color. -Rub the stain marker lightly into the scratch. -Follow the grain as you do it. -The scratch should disappear in moments. -For deeper scratches, a bit more work is needed. -Clean as before. -Then sand the area with fine steel wool… -…until the scratch blends in with the wood. -Use a wood wax stick to fill in the scratch. -Let the wax harden. -Buff it with a cloth until it shines.
First, you’ll need to wipe the scratched area with a damp cloth. This gets rid of any dirt or dust. Then get a wood stain marker. It should be the same color as the floor or furniture. Shake the stain marker first, then dampen a rag with it. About a dozen dabs onto the cloth should do. Rub the stain marker lightly into the scratch. Be sure you follow the grain of the wood when you do this. In cases where scratches are pretty deep, you’ll need to use another method. After cleaning as before, you’ll want to sand the area with some fine steel wool. Do this until the scratch blends in with the rest of the wood. Then fill in the scratch by rubbing it with a wood wax stick that matches the wood color. Let the wax harden, then buff it with a cloth. And just like that, the scratch is gone and no one will notice anything was ever wrong. You now know how to remove scratches from wood surfaces.
