Unfair Fees, Misleading Leasing, Ongoing Construction, Poor Management and Constant Issues
Before signing our lease, I clearly shared that my deciding factor was having a quiet space because I’m an author and record meditation audios from home. I was strongly reassured that there would be no construction or major noise, and that assurance is why we chose to move forward with this apartment.
Within two weeks of moving in, a massive construction project began right outside of our unit and has now been ongoing for 5 months, 5 days a week. They will not give an end date. It is centered... around the pool, hot tub, and entire main common area, which was also a major reason we chose to live here and something we had specifically discussed prior to signing.
The noise is constant and makes it impossible to function or relax at home. I’ve been forced to rent an additional space to be able to work in the days.
When we reached out to management, I was told they believe they were allowed to provide that misinformation and they would not be offering any solutions to improve the situation.
Their payment system has failed and has ongoing glitches when I attempt to pay rent. I ended up being two days late on two occasions because it took days of trying to get their system to work, I tried contacting days before it was due, their office was closed, they wouldn’t accept cash, and it took a month for them to finally respond. A day after I paid rent and 5 days after they ignored my emails requesting how I can pay rent on time, they left a notice to evict due to a 3 day late payment on my door.
Despite all of this, they still charged me late fees.
I have asked for these fees to be removed, as the delay was caused entirely by their system but they refuse to correct it. Stating “once their system charges a tenant they are unable to ever refund that payment, even if it’s not the tenant’s fault.” Most responses I have received focus on threatening me that additional charges will be applied, rather than acknowledge my questions. I was told if I attempt to dispute the incorrect fees with my bank, they will charge me further fees for that as well.
I am left having to pay rent by mail because their system does not work and they will not assist me. They continue to state that they will charge me additional fees if the payment is late by mail or lost.
I rarely write reviews but this has been an ongoing nightmare I wouldn’t want anyone else to have to go through this nightmare. I would strongly caution anyone considering renting here, especially in the near future!
