Would not recommend to anyone!

My mother moved to Azulon mid October of 2020 and passed away on New Years Day 2021. She lived there 2.5 months.

The day after she passed away I went into the leasing office to give our 30 day notice, they told me we would have to pay rent through March because she was "breaking the lease". She did not break the lease on purpose. She died. We were told that if we did not pay rent through March (over $7,500) that my mothers estate would be sent to collections.

I went back the next day to begin… moving out my late mother's belongings and let hospice in to retrieve the hospital bed only to find that Azulon changed the locks on us and I was unable to access her apartment because "I was not on the lease" even though the azulon staff all knew me by name and knew I was her daughter and caregiver. The lack of empathy and respect that I felt was unreal. The fact that Azulon would not even call me to let me know they were changing the locks felt so disrespectful and inappropriate.

On top of all that they charged us $950 in "damages" for an apartment that she lived at for a total of 2.5 months. When asked for photo proof of the damages they said they had photos but they could not provide them. I appealed and asked if someone higher up could approve of the photos being sent to me. They said no

Today we paid them $8,642 because my mom died and "broke the lease". unreal.

The stress that the Azulon staff added to my family grief was extremely frustrating and I would not recommend anyone with a sick family member to move there. It is very VERY clear that they value profit over people.

Azulon

Azulon is a new 55 apartment complex in Costa Mesa. It has great features such as open walking areas, gym and yoga room, salt water pool, spa, outdoor fireplace, movie screening room and organic vegetable garden.
The interiors of the apartments are spacious and have great kitchens and baths, the finish trim work and interior and exterior paint in the apartments is below standards and they must have been in a hurry to finish. I do know that they were behind and missed their initial opening… date. The staff are great and the location is convenient to everything!
