New York city living on the south side of Glendale. A throw back to old Hollywood.

I first moved in to my apartment November 1 st of last year I was beyond ecstatic to have my very own apartment. It was just me and my one year old son. A new start and the end to a very stressful year of living with family members and bouncing around. I was beyond happy at first I adored my apartment it was in a conviensn area of Glendale walking distance from Americana and local mall. It is extremely spacious newly remodeled and had a old Hollywood feel to it it was unlike a lot of... buildings I had previously lIved in in Glendale before. The elevator was an eclectic yet horrifying throw back to the 40s one of those door metal bar elevators that some of my friends had never even seen before. And also terrified of using that never. Bothered me. I loved the old construction the brick walls made the apartment quiet and I fellt I had privacy something very hard to come by in Glendale. Very spacious bedroom with walk in closet it's very old but everything was remodeled however I never did care much for the outside of the building its located on busy congested street. There's a mechanic shop next store and every night you could here people being loud and obnoxious at 3 am frequenting the 711 across the street hence the tittle New York city living I absolutel felt like I was in the heart of NYC. As time progressed and the excitement of my new place fizzled I started to see a lot more negative then positive sides to this place. It was very neglected and Not clean. Carpet in hallways seemed like they have been there for centuries and never washed or vacuumed. Thelaundry room is in dingy basement and its scary and dark it has two washers two dryers none of which worked well ,you can't take the elevator down so I had to carry my laundry and small child down-large steep stairs which scared me also the elevator was giving me an angry fit every time I tried to take my son anywhere pushing it open with one hand and the stroller seemed to just drive me crazy. Things were falling apart my toilet had to be repaired numerous times my ceiling fan was loose for weeks and mismanagement ignored me. The rent is $1200 seemingly cheap for Glendale and utilities are included which is great but I still think I could do much better for that price size is great beautiful hardwood floors but not a good environment for children noisy and dusty from mechanic shop I wish to leave after my 12 month lease is up. all in all it was decent but I do not recommend living here
