Sketchy area

Used to feel safe walking down the street in the evening but times have changed. Because this building is just off PCH there are sketchy people that wander down Narbonne. Person in the building escaped a mugging at knife-point on the steps of the front of the building over the past weekend. Management only just replaced some burnt out lights in the underground parking, but they really should put a security camera at the front and driveway gates to deter crimes. Sometimes people wait at the front... gate and ask you to let them in or slip in past you when you leave - some live there but you never know. Carry pepper spray with you especially if you have to park on the street. The tiles in front of the building (and on handicap ramp) are broken and also get very slippery when wet and it is a safety issue but that's another story. For what they are asking in rent, safety measures really should be increased here.

Noisy neighbors, dirty parking area

Apartment is located off of Pacific Coast Highway and there is a fire house a few doors down. People will park in the adjacent shopping center parking lot at night and blast their music. If that noise isn't enough for you, there is a family that yells and screams at each other at least a couple times a week, and this will echo through the courtyard creating a hostile environment among all the neighbors. Sheriffs will be called.

There are also rats in the underground parking area (due to the...
overflowing garbage cans) and there are some tenants who use their parking for storage and trash contributing to the problem. Also in the basement is the laundry area, where there are 5-6 washers & dryers for 63 units. They are expensive and constantly having issues.

Requests for repairs should be in writing and by phone, but unless it is absolutely essential (roof, pipes), do not expect a reply. When maintenance does show up, they park their vans or trucks in the single drive way in/out of the building. Sometimes they hire people who don't know what they are doing (who paints over the peephole in the door?!).

These are all issues that could be improved/remedied by a more present management.

Used to be better

I'm not going to lie. The complex is great, and the neighbors are inviting. There used to be a time when it was quick and easy to get repairs done, but now... not so much. Also, you are not allowed to have guests in the pool; whether you are with them or not. Hopefully all of that will turn around, because it's otherwise a great place to live.
