The Culver City Apartment

My family and I love the apartment, but there are a few amenities that are not included. We also live with my wife's brother and we have a 4 year daughter who lives in our bedroom. The size of the layout is great but it is time to move on. Would love the help!!!

Palms, Los Angeles 4-unit building

Overall: No frills, but conveniently located and reasonably priced.

Pros: Relatively reasonable rent for the area, near public transportation and highways, and walking distance from restaurants, grocery shops, etc. Neighborhood is safe, lots of street parking is available. No manager on site. Leasing company is friendly, mostly off-hands, but respond to requests in a timely manner.

cons: no laundry on site so have to walk to laundromat. Small apartment size, no outdoor area (patio, courtyard,...
etc) or communal space. Generally noisy, since located on a busy street corner. No AC or dishwasher.

Location, location, location

The apartment was redone in the 70's and while some apartments in the area have been redone on the inside in this neighborhood (wood floors and other minor work), the apartments themselves tend to be pretty average. It's more the location that makes it perfect. Rent control and some of the best rates for rent in LA are just the beginning, as it is centrally located - a quick 10 minute drive/20 minute bus ride to Venice, a quick 15 minutes to Santa Monica, and a quick 20-25 minutes to WeHo,... Hollywood, and downtown with non-rush hour traffic make it perfect to get anywhere you want with ease. Plus, with the new metro going in down the street in Decemebr 2015, this neigborhood will make it even easier. Besides all that, the neighborhood has a variety of good schools and great food - with the gourmet Japanese fusion restaurant n/naka down the street, at least twelve different solid 3-4 star restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk and downtown Culver's Main Street just within reach, this neighborhood is hidden gem in the Los Angeles area. We also have had two new original cafés open, which don't burn their espresso like Starbucks or coffee bean, and an Irish pub opened down the street recently, with a nice imported brews from the UK and Irish republic and a quiet quirky crowd to go with it. Having lived here for going on three years, I would give it five stars on the neighborhood, 5 stars on location, but 3 stars on the apartment itself.
