Could be better. Could be worse.

7225 Hollywood is not everything it appears to be. After months of searching for an apartment in Los Angeles and financially running out of time my Girlfriend and I decided that 7225 ticked all the boxes we needed for then.
Affordable, rent control and six month minimum stay. Our one bedroom apartment was also particularly spacious a nice big bathroom and bedroom. The lounge overlooks the pool and all in all it could be worse.
This being Hollywood though and town of movie making not all is...
as it seems. Very quickly we noticed many problems with the shoddy workmanship around the place. With handles falling off doors. A disgusting lament kitchen floor from the early 80's and Roaches popping up here and there despite being told by the land lady proudly on first viewing there aren't roaches.
We settled In and gradually got things taken care of. It is a slow painful process trying to get maintenance men to come to the apartment to fix anything. What helps though is when you remind the landlady that rent is coming up and you can't pay until they take care of the problems previously discussed.
The neighbors for the most part are mainly Russian and keep themselves to themselves although a few doors down from us there is a family who LOVE to scream and shout especially it seems after midnight when their fighting reaches its zenith.
The rent though is affordable and compared to some of the other locations looked at in Los Angeles 7225 is not so bad. The kookiness of the characters is to be expected in such a crazy location right on the border of tourist central and affluent West Hollywood. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance as well as the Metro line which is very convenient.
Our Russian land lady's catch phrase is ... Rent. Five years after moving in we are still here partly because we can't afford anything else and partly because it really could be a lot worse!
