Avalon Mountain View

Been living here for more than a year, still can’t get used to how thin the wall is and how loud the neighbors are especially at night time.
The buildings are old, noisy constructions/repairs happen almost every month. Horrible value for the price

I found Avalon Mountain View last year on Apartments.com when I moved to the Bay Area from Chicago and I couldn't be happier with the past year and appreciate the guidance that Apartments.com provided. The apartments are well maintained, friendly rental office people, the best maintenance staff who are quick to respond to any service requests, nice pool, fitness center, BBQ area, and dog park amenities. It is a 10 minute walk down to Castro street to fulfill your last minute dinner plans or... grabbing a drink during a sporting event, 5 minute drive to Trader Joe's and Safeway, easy access to highways with relatively easy commutes north or south in the Bay Area, and nestled in a friendly and safe neighborhood. Unlike many places in the Bay Area this community feels residential and connected with nature still with lots of grass, great landscaping, and trees with squirrels and snails. On my balcony I was allowed to have flower boxes where I grew herbs and flowers which made it feel like home. Nice job Avalon! Read More

Avalon is an all-around great place to live. I'd highly recommend it if you can afford the rent.

The upsides
You have all the amenities, in a great location. Avalon offers a pool, gym, bbq area, balcony, washer dryer in-unit, and dishwasher. The staff are friendly and attentive to maintenance requests (usually same day). But the best part is you are a short walk from downtown Mountain View. The place has a residential feel while being close to downtown.

The downsides
There are some minor... downsides. Sometimes you'll see silverfish on the walls (not a huge deal) and if you're in the back of the complex you will need to get used to hearing the train (not a problem if you are anywhere else). Probably the worst downside is that rent will increase a lot from year to year. This is true of almost all apartments in the area, but avalon, like other apartment companies, will not treat you any differently regardless of how strong of a tenant you are.

Overall, it's great place. Just make sure you can afford it and be prepared to move after a year or two. Read More
