A Solid Building

Alamo Square Apartments is an overall great building in a perfect location.

1. Location: This building is situated in a great neighborhood, boasting plenty of bars and restaurants on Divis. Great public transport connections to all areas of the city, and good highway access for those that drive to the peninsula/silicon valley. Most importantly, it sits right on Alamo Square Park with amazing views of the city skyline and the painted ladies, a great place to get out of the house and have a...
picnic on a Sunday, just steps away!

2. Building common areas: This building is very well kept for its age, a charming 1927 ”decoesque” affair with a two story marble foyer with lots of nice period detailing and two functioning original elevators. Hallways are carpeted and kept very clean by the staff. Building has an underground parking garage (though street parking is reasonably doable), and coin operate laundry. Overall, it’s quite impressive, and people that like historic buildings will appreciate the care that was put into preserving it.

3. Apartment: The apartment was completely remodeled for our move in, with period details maintained, but with all modern conveniences added in. Kitchen included a modern fridge/dishwasher/range and garbage disposal equipped sink. Plenty of power outlets and internet infrastructure. Very nice view of the city from our window. Also, plenty of good storage closets, so overall even though our place is small, it’s well thought out and doesn’t feel too cramped. Also, great natural light.

4. Management: Most importantly, the management is excellent. Calvin, the resident manager is a star, he’s very friendly and has been extremely helpful with any assistance we needed. When our garbage disposal broke and started leaking one day, we had a brand new one installed within an hour of reporting the problem.

Overall the building is great! There’s a good mix of older and younger residence with a very quiet and friendly vibe. I really don’t have any criticism to speak of so far, though the cost of rent is high, I can’t complain since this is San Francisco after all.
