Landing at Arroyo

I’m writing this review because I think future residents should know how issues may be handled here before signing a lease.
I have an assigned parking spot, #86. One night, I came home late and found another resident’s car parked in my assigned space. I took pictures showing their car in my spot. I recognized the car because I see it every day parked in the space next to mine, #85. So from what I could tell, they normally park in #85 but parked in my spot, #86, that night by mistake.
Since it... was late and I had to wake up very early for work, I tried to be reasonable. I did not want to immediately tow my neighbor’s car because I know it was an honest mistake. Since my assigned space was taken, I parked in their spot, #85, with the intention of moving my car back once my space became available.
Instead, that resident had my car towed.
I ended up having to pay $452 to get my car back, even though the whole situation started because someone else parked in my assigned spot first.
What made this more frustrating was how the leasing office handled it. When I went to the office, I expected them to at least review the pictures, look into what happened, or try to help resolve the situation fairly. Instead, I was basically told it was my fault because I did not tow the other car from my assigned space right away.
That response was very disappointing. It feels like residents are being pushed to immediately tow each other instead of trying to handle things respectfully or reasonably. I tried not to escalate the situation, and it ended up costing me $452.
I was not offered reimbursement, mediation, or any meaningful help. I felt completely unsupported as a resident, even though I had photo proof that my assigned spot was taken first.
Future residents should seriously consider this before moving here. Assigned parking should mean something. If another resident can park in your assigned space, you try to be reasonable, and you are the one who ends up paying hundreds of dollars while management does not meaningfully help, that is a serious problem. My girlfriend and I have lived here for almost a year. We would definitely recommend the Landing. The property is always kept up and the amenities are great! Most importantly, the staff set the bar in professionalism.
