Red flag
I came for a viewing, and Rick, who is the broker of Reily Property mgmt, was there answering questions. I asked questions such as;
1. how long was the previous tenant here for?
2. Why did they move?
3. Are there termite issues?
4. Is there rent control? As soon as I asked that question he said all of California is rent controlled. I said no, I viewed another unit where the owner said it's not rent-controlled. Rick started getting agitated and made me feel like I am dumb and like I don't... know what I am asking. This isn't my first time renting. I ask these questions because of past renting experience.
5. The appliances are very outdated from the 1970s or older. Nothing looks brand new. The mirrored closet was stuck and wouldn't move.
Not very impressed. As a woman who is self-employed and I screen candidates as well for a living. I won't be applying for this unit. $40 for an application and there were several people there asking questions. I work hard for my money and not going to waste it on an apartment I am not crazy about and love. I didn't appreciate the negative energy I received today. You have been warned.

Outdated
This place is very OUTDATED. One of the apts has a stove from the 50's. The heater unit works great during the winter (and summer). No AC. The window screens don't fit properly and the front door sticks out. The doorway looks like termites got to it. We have mentioned time and time again about the lack of hot water in the shower. (that has never been fixed).
The washers and dryers always seem to break down.
I have lived here for many years and the only improvement I have seen, is the... repaving of the drive way (for the 2nd time).
The rent is liveable for this neighborhood. It's a roof over your head. But, if there are other options. There are other options.
