terrible service
Ever since Ramona and Kaylyn left it’s impossible to get a response from the office, there’s a constant rotation of workers here

Cons: Thin walls / ceilings means you hear your neighbors, especially above.
Air handler is in the unit and so LOUD you cannot have a conversation when it is turned on. The Bike room is in basement down a flight of stairs.
Expensive $$$. Does NOT have "Unrivaled sophistication". Outdated fitness center. Barking from dog park. Windows do not open wide enough to allow ventilation/breeze. No sink disposals.
Pros: Convenient location. Great staff. Nice roof deck. Modern, nicely designed interiors.... Wish I was paying less, and living in a better-constructed (quieter) building.

We moved here in 2019 so can't speak for earlier reviews. Definitely satisfied. It's a bit pricey but still a good deal compared to other luxury apartments in downtown New Haven. The co-working spaces (which they're expanding) have been a real plus during COVID. For the most part, management is prompt and responsive - it's reassuring to know that Craig is just a phone call away if something comes up.
One caveat- we lucked out and got high-floor unit facing away from the parking lot. Some of the... lower-floor units facing the interior lot don't get great light. Depending on your preferences might be worth specifying that you want higher floor/outward facing.
Overall, even though all of downtown is kind of a rip-off (we're essentially paying Brooklyn prices for...New Haven), I really do think this is the best deal.

Management is unresponsive with poor customer service levels. Would not recommend this building.

New Haven is great. Lot's to do in the nearby and surrounding areas. I haven't had the best experience with RMS Companies, the manager of The Novella. Also, if you like loud, you will love The Novella. You will hear the sound of car alarms frequently. Not sure why, but people leave car alarms ringing like clock work almost every day. If you enjoy the sound of hectic, you may have found your new home.
