Meridian at Gallery Place

Throughout the 3 years I lived at this apartment, I experienced an infestation of roaches and mice, and floods at minimum annually, but usually more often.

The worst part of all of this was the property manager, Patrick. He is condescending and, in one phone call, yelled at and berated me for asking questions about his plan to solve the pest control issue in our home. He has also on several occasions explained very basic concepts to me as if I'm a child.

the unit flooded at least once/year,... with the final flood incurring property damage from 3 inches of water covering our floors and requiring folks to stay in hotels. water damage coated our walls for months leading up to the incident, with a confirmation that the problem was solved several weeks before the worst of it happened.

It’s ideally located but that means there’s a lot of outside noise. Cars, people yelling, loud music at all hours. Also, they have “tile replacement” at least three times per week so you hear loud drilling over your head all day. They don’t care about your well-being or you having a comfortable experience in your home. Just stay far away.

I am so upset with this place. They had a faulty leak in their storage closet. Since I live in the sunroom, it leaked all over my room. I came home one day from work and my room was torn apart and a fan attempting to fix the damage. Instead of apologies or anything, I ended up with over $500 in damaged clothes, a broken ipad, and many other damages. Did the Meridian compensate me for any of this? of course not. I've lived here for 2 years and can't wait to get out. Everything about this place besides my actual apartment is terrible. Do not expect the leasing office to help you with ANYTHING. After living here for a year and a half, they tried to raise my month-to-month rent $500. After going back and forth I got it down to $300 more. It's absurd. They lure you in with great prices then increase them every time renewal comes around. The leasing office will not help you with anything, they are extremely... poorly organized. Every time I've had to renew my rent there's been an issue and it has taken over a month to set it straight. My pet had fleas and after sending in two maintenance requests for an exterminator I went down to the office and they wouldn't do it because "I brought the fleas in." My cat lives by himself and isn't in contact with any other animals. To top it all off, we've had construction in the lobby for about 5 months, loud, invasive construction. We can't take the side door, have to walk past people in the gym to go outside. Can't stand in the lobby at all because of all the construction, there are also no chairs. The Meridians are well known through the DC Metro area. The one in Gallery Place is definitely one that is known as well - mainly because of location - which is great. The Meridian here has great facilities - rooftop pool, grill, community room, and gym. A beautiful entrance and someone always on front desk duty. The apartments could be updated a little bit but they aren't awful by any means. It's Meridian sister across the street at Mt Vernon Triangle blows it away. Located a few mins from the... Verizon Center and bars, next to a Safeway, and close to downtown, this is truly a great location for a young professional. My main complaint would be the slowness of the leasing staff.
