meh apartment that loses heating often

I would not recommend this place if you have alternatives.

Going without heat for days to weeks is not uncommon. Currently, there has been heating issues for the at least the last 10 days and the single pane windows and lack of insulation mean that you can't escape the cold. Management doesn't respond to tickets and is generally unresponsive to most matters (I put in a ticket for pest extermination [mice] and still haven't gotten a response a month later). I spent a week calling the property...
manager, the maintenance hotline, and the handyman, and it still don't have an answer on when the heat will fixed. Consider buying a space heater or electric blanket.

The only redeeming point is location which is nice if you need to be in DC, but deteriorating interior and poor amenities leave a lot to be desired. Expect to pay $4 for laundry ($2 to wash and $2 to dry) and to buy your own window unit for a/c.

If you can afford a different apartment, do so. If not, welcome to saratoga and best of luck staying warm.

No pictures of the interior for a reason

The studio is double the price that it is worth and it doesn't include utilities. The whole studio can't be bigger than 8x8. The whole building is dingy and there are no peep holes in the doors. After my tour of the disappointing studio, I asked to see the one bedroom. What a horror show! Stairs down to basement creak and are uneven, the stair hand rail seemed like it was about to detach from the wall. There was zero natural light and it had a prison like feel. My opinion is the whole building... should be converted to low income housing for the homeless or be completely gutted.
